                                       CHORUS ORIGINS

Thirty-one years ago the idea of the West Coast Mennonite Men's Chorus was visualized by Eldon Franz. With this dream in mind he brought together a group of men who became the first Board in 1977. They developed a format for the chorus to be formed. The chorus is composed of men from; Mennonite, Brethren in Christ, and other churches. This men's chorus, is not a standing group who rehearse and
perform throughout the year, but they are a group of about 170 lay volunteers who get together in early spring, practice a maximum of ten times and then give their annual concerts.

The purpose of the West Coast Mennonite Men's Chorus is to

glorify our Heavenly Father and His Son, Jesus Christ in song

* meet spiritual needs through the ministry of music,

* promote male singing in Mennonite congregations,

* cultivate the common bonds of those who share Christian
beliefs and traditions,

* provide a choral forum for the celebration and expression
of the Christian faith,

* support the world-wide relief and development efforts
of the Mennonite Central Committee, a tax-exempt
non-profit organization.

During the past 30 concert years, the offerings taken have gone to MCC.
Our annual concerts take place near the time of the Fresno MCC Sale.
